INNKEEPERS

Phoenicia Lodge

Sandra Boyd - Innkeeper

We are fortunate to have Sandra leading the Phoenicia Lodge team. As a highly skilled, well-traveled professional, Sandra brings a rare combination of warmth, experience, and dedication to her role. She takes exceptional pride in ensuring every guest feels welcomed and cared for, helping to make each stay at the Lodge memorable and special.

Before joining Phoenicia Lodge, Sandra spent a decade managing another {verdigreen} property, Sunset Inn & Cottages in Treasure Island, Florida. Her path into hospitality was shaped by a deep passion for people, and her years of living and traveling around the world. With a background in corporate sales, Sandra made a transition into hotel management, where her natural ability to connect with others and her keen eye for detail have truly flourished.

Sandra’s global experiences have instilled in her a sincere appreciation for diverse cultures and a belief in the transformative power of travel. She brings that spirit to Phoenicia Lodge every day, creating an environment where guests are well cared for so that they are free to enjoy the beauty of Catskills nature and the surrounding towns.

She lives in Phoenicia with her husband Andy, and is the proud mother of two adult children who share her free spirit and love for adventure and travel. Sandra’s warmth, leadership, and love for hospitality continue to shape the culture of Phoenicia Lodge.

We are looking forward to hosting you soon.

Emily Mednick - Assistant Innkeeper

Emily moved from Connecticut to join the Phoenicia Lodge as assistant innkeeper. With a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Emily has always been drawn to roles that allow her to connect with and care for others. While her early career began in traditional social services, she quickly discovered that hospitality offered a different—but equally meaningful—way to make people feel supported, seen, and at home.

At the Lodge, Emily is known for her contagious enthusiasm, warm demeanor, and genuine love for both people and animals. Whether she’s greeting guests at check-in, offering local hiking recommendations, or making sure everything feels just right in your room, Emily brings a level of attentiveness and heart that guests remember long after their stay. Her ability to create an atmosphere of comfort and care makes her a cornerstone of the Lodge’s day-to-day charm, and a favorite among returning visitors.

Outside of work, Emily embraces everything the Catskills have to offer. She loves exploring nearby trails, visiting local markets, and getting to know the vibrant community of Phoenicia. And if you’re traveling with a four-legged companion, don’t be surprised—Emily will ask to say hi!

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge Phoenicia Lodge was built upon Mohican (Mohhecconnuck) ancestral land.

As settlers on their indigenous homeland,  we have a duty to recognize the Mohican nation as the original stewards of Phoenicia and beyond. It is our hope that this land acknowledgment will help empower First Nation voices and inspire others in the community to pursue a stronger, more inclusive, and equitable future for our country.

We seek to educate ourselves while contributing to the Mohican peoples by raising awareness and learning how to be a better ally against continued colonization. To learn more about their "Many Trails" throughout history, please visit the Mohican website here.
